Advent 2017 Daily meditations

Jeremiah 1:4–10

Then said I:
“Ah, Lord God!
Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.”
But the Lord said to me:
“Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’
For you shall go to all to whom I send you,
And whatever I command you, you shall speak.
Do not be afraid of their faces,
For I am with you to deliver you,” says the Lord.

Often we are afraid to speak for righteousness sake…we are afraid to stand up for the Gospel. It might be easier to accept if I say it like this: Often times we think we are ill-equipped to serve the Lord at a deeper level.

You know…we don’t know the Bible well enough. Or we haven’t been Christian long enough. Or we have sinned too much.

What excuse have you used?

If you’ve pledged a Black Greek Lettered Organization, you would have likely learned this:

Excuses are tools of incompetence
They build monuments of nothingness
And bridges that lead to nowhere
Those who specialize in excuses, seldom excel in anything else

That is true here because the reality is the Lord is “with you to deliver you.” And if He sends you, then He has equipped you.

So what are you running from?

You see: how can you follow the Lord where He has gone (i.e. the Kingdom of God) if you cannot follow where He’s sending you?

To prepare to go to the Kingdom, we ought to practice going where He sends us, now. How can you use this time of Advent to prepare yourself to go to the place(s) where He’s been calling you but you’ve been resisting?
