Humanity is sick. And we need medicine.
That reality is not difficult to see. From the racial violence threatening American Society, to anti-Western terrorism in Nigeria, Libya, the Middle East and beyond, to exploitive banking systems domestically and internationally. The trail of destruction and death is long. Where is our medicine?
It may seem sometimes that there is no hope: eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we shall die! Heinous crime and violence becomes acceptable because what does life matter anyway. Selfishness becomes the adult norm, because “I gotta get mine!” Or, we keep our head down because the corruption around us doesn’t concern us. And if we just bide our time and bite our tongue, we might be able to pass through this life unnoticed: “I don’t want to cause any waves.”
So we watch each other die in various ways, and remain relatively silent. Truly, humanity is sick.
But, “God so loved the world, that He gave his Only Begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him would not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Jesus Christ is the Medicine of the World! And, He was sent as a remedy for those of us who know a remedy is needed. He was hanged on the Cross for you and me to see our Medicine and be healed of this sickness.
Have you seen Him? Have you looked on Him…on the Cross, and considered what it all means? Have you been confronted by the immeasurable love of God?
